A series of solo or collaborative art exhibition by Kylie Boo on Congenital Heart Defects.
Artist: Kylie Boo
Kylie Boo, an artist who was born with congenital heart disease – Congenitally Corrected Transposition of Great Arteries (CCTGA). Her complex condition has resulted in the postponing of her treatment until she was 20 years old.
In 2017, she was admitted to the hospital and had a fontan open heart surgery conducted by a Singapore surgeon, Dr Low Yee Jim. She was then transferred to National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS) in 2018.
Upon discharging from a month long stay in the hospital, she had decided to create artworks to make social awareness about congenital heart diseases.
With the help from her facilitators from Republic Polytechnic, her mentor Azizah Zakaria and Joshua Yang had assisted her to fulfil her dream even in the midst of Covid – 19. Her lecturer Beverly Yuen, an arts practitioner and artistic director of Grain PR Lab was greatly inspired by her artwork – she collaborated with Kylie Boo in her theatre practice in 2020, “From Heart to Hearts for Hearts”.
